A mother, a sister, a traveler, an actor, a potter, a wanna-be surfer, a photographer, Astri Wee specializes in images that capture a moment of human truth. From childhood in the cornfields of Iowa to New York City (Brooklyn girl!) to Northern Virginia to who knows where next, Astri has had a passion for photography for over 30 years, cultivated by years of education, travel, and experience.
She started with old school 35mm black and white developing and a BA in Art from Luther College in Decorah Iowa. A couple decades later, she moved to fully digital with a professional photography certificate from the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University.
Astri is excited by everything different and exotic. With a constant curiosity, she attempts to capture images that are emotionally and thought provoking. Always an artist, Astri hopes to continue to soak in new people, new places, old friends, and provocative conversation for the rest of her life.
Astri prefers to work with available (natural) light, is happy to travel to shoots, and has an individual style that combines fine art and journalism.
